Points of Support

Introduction

In January 2024, our Foundation joined the 7^thcycle of the “Points of Support” (PoS) Program as a donor. The PoS Program is a partnership of Foundations in Greece which started in 2015 and since then it has funded 157 initiatives with more than 50,000 beneficiaries.

Its objectives are, on the one hand, to support original small-scale projects of significant social impact and, on the other hand, to strengthen the structures and capacities of Greek civil society organizations, primarily small and medium-sized, in order to enhance their sustainability and further develop their work.

In the framework of the 7th cycle of the Program (2024-2025), 10 Foundations are collaborating to support 34 projects, which will have a duration of up to 8 months. Each project is falling under one of the following themes, as defined by the Program's funders:

I. Social inclusion of people with disabilities (John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation)

II. Child and health (Captain Vassilis & Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation)

III. Protection of the environment

a) Protection of flora and fauna in the urban and peri-urban environment (A. G. Leventis Foundation)

b) Protection of aquatic ecosystems: seas, lakes, rivers and wetlands (Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation)

c) Protection of forest and other terrestrial ecosystems (Costas M. Lemos Foundation)

IV. Prevention and health promotion of adults (Social and Cultural Affairs Welfare Foundation-KIKPE)

V. Combating poverty and food crisis (The Hellenic Initiative Canada)

VI. Social innovation in small coastal local communities (Athina I. Martinou Foundation)

VII. Sustainable Cities and Communities (Helidoni Foundation)

Alongside the funding, the Program includes free participation of organizations in capacity building activities, which will be funded and implemented by the Bodossaki Foundation through its NGO Hub, the Social Dynamo. Bodossaki Foundation also acts as the Program coordinator since 2022.

Utilization of donation (July updates)

The application period ended on April 30^th, 2024, and the results were announced in July 2024. Our Foundation will fund the following NGOs & projects:

Communitism - Development of an online platform for participatory mapping of old buildings that have fallen into disuse, in order to activate groups and citizens in the preservation of the cultural heritage of the city of Athens

Cultural Association of Agrampela "Agios Dimitrios" - Restoration and reopening of a water groove and the traditional stone water mill for the cultural promotion of the broader Kalavryta area, in cooperation with the NGO "Another Way”

Diversity United - Creation of an assessment tool in the form of an online application, through which customers will be evaluating catering facilities (such as restaurants, coffee shops, food markets, etc.) in terms of eco-friendly and sustainable practices adoption
